Lara Croft - Tomb Raider Reborn Contest entry, wips, sketches and discarded ideas

Posted on 11:04 by mohit

Final entry for the official contest hosted by deviantart

 Tools:

- 3H-7B, 9B graphite powder
- Kneaded Eraser, Mechanical Pen Eraser, Electric Eraser
- Blending Stump, Makeup removal discs
- A3 (29,7x42cm) (11,7"x16,64")

Lara Croft is a fictional character and the main protagonist of the Square Enix video game series Tomb Raider. She is presented as a beautiful, intelligent, and athletic English archaeologist-adventuress who ventures into ancient, hazardous tombs and ruins around the world.

In this case I saved some previous ideas and I thought that why not to share part of the process and evolution til the final result.

100. CARL SAGAN: Pale blue dot

Posted on 12:34 by mohit

The Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of Earth (click here to see it) taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft at a distance of 3.7 billion miles away. The spacecraft had completed its primary mission and was passing Saturn, hurtling through space at 40,000 mph. Carl Sagan requested that the spacecraft turn around and take a photo of Earth, not for any scientific purpose, but as a sobering reminder of our planet’s insignificance. The resulting image inspired Sagan to write this now famous and breathtaking passage.

Gandalf - Drawing

Posted on 04:04 by mohit

thumbnailCharacter in J. R. R. Tolkien's novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. He appears as a wizard, member of the order known as the Istari, as well as leader of the Fellowship of the Ring and the army of the West. In The Lord of the Rings, he is initially known as Gandalf the Grey, but returns from death as Gandalf the White. Sir Ian McKellen wonderfully portrayed Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy

I wanted to try a challenging hair in a new paper but I think I picked the wrong beard in not the best realist paper, though not disappointed with the result.

Tools:

- Kneaded Eraser, Mechanical Pen Eraser, Electric Eraser
- Blending Stump, Makeup removal discs

Bonsai - Drawing

Posted on 12:59 by mohit

thumbnailJapanese art form using miniature trees grown in containers. The purposes of bonsai are primarily contemplation (for the viewer) and the pleasant exercise of effort and ingenuity (for the grower). By contrast with other plant cultivation practices, bonsai is not intended for production of food, for medicine, or for creating yard-size or park-size gardens or landscapes. Instead, bonsai practice focuses on long-term cultivation and shaping of one or more small trees growing in a container.
